If you have moved to Estonia from the UK, the US or most of Europe, this one catches people out every year: Father’s Day in Estonia is not in June. It is on the second Sunday of November, which in 2026 is 8 November. Estonia shares this date with Finland, Sweden and Norway.
It is an official flag day, so you will see the blue, black and white flag on buildings, but it is not a day off.
How Estonians celebrate it
Father’s Day here is a quiet family day rather than a commercial event. A typical version looks like this:
- Breakfast or a Sunday lunch at home, often with grandparents.
- A card, usually handmade or with a photo, from the children.
- A small present, rarely anything expensive.
- Kindergartens and schools often make cards or small crafts with the children in the week before.
If your child goes to an Estonian kindergarten, expect something handmade to come home in early November.
How to say it in Estonian
- Head isadepäeva! Happy Father’s Day!
- Palju õnne isadepäevaks! Congratulations on Father’s Day!
- Aitäh, et oled alati olemas. Thank you for always being there.
- Maailma parimale issile. To the best dad in the world.
- Head isadepäeva, vanaisa! Happy Father’s Day, Grandad!
Gift ideas that suit the Estonian way
Because the day is low-key, personal beats expensive. These are the gifts our customers pick most for it:
- A photo card from the kids. Design one with your own photo and let the children write inside.
- A photo keyring. Small, used every day. We have round and rectangular versions, some with a bottle opener.
- An engraved bottle opener. A name, a date or an inside joke. Engraving is included in the price.
- A photo mouse pad or set of coasters for the dad who lives at his desk.
- A photo cushion for grandad’s sofa.
- A personalised T-shirt with a family joke. Each one is printed to order. Design your own T-shirt.
- A fragrance he would never buy himself. Our guide on choosing perfume as a gift helps if you do not know his taste.
Order early
Personalised items are made after you order, so they need a few extra days. We ship to parcel lockers across Estonia and also to Latvia and Lithuania, see shipping across the Baltics.
