At most Estonian online shops, including ours, you will see two ways to pay over time at checkout: pay later, which splits your purchase into a few interest-free parts, and järelmaks (hire purchase), which spreads it over months or years with interest. At Gribzy both run through Montonio, and you get a decision on the spot.

We are not financial advisers, so always read the lender’s terms before agreeing.

Pay later

  • Split into up to three parts, interest-free if you pay on time.
  • Good for spreading December costs into January, or buying a gift a few days before payday.

Hire purchase (järelmaks)

  • Spread over up to 72 months.
  • Interest and a contract fee apply, set by the lender.
  • The longer the period, the more you pay in total. Check the annual percentage rate (krediidi kulukuse määr) and the total amount in the contract.

Who can use it

Generally you will need an Estonian personal identification code (isikukood), an Estonian bank account and to pass the lender’s check when you apply. Rules may differ for Latvian and Lithuanian residents.

How it works at checkout

  1. Add items to your basket and go to checkout.
  2. Choose Montonio pay later or hire purchase.
  3. Fill in a short application. The answer usually comes within minutes.
  4. Once approved, your order is paid and we ship it as normal.

Useful words

  • Maksa hiljem: pay later
  • Järelmaks: hire purchase
  • Sissemakse: down payment
  • Krediidi kulukuse määr: annual percentage rate (APR)
  • Leping: contract

A pay-later plan is still a loan. If you are not sure you can cover the payments, a small personalised gift like a photo card is often just as memorable. The Estonian version of this post has more detail on returns.
